Luana had a hunch that yoga might offer something to heal a string of shoulder injuries and to help prevent further occurrences, so she signed up for a beginner’s class close to her home. Entering her first class with trepidation, she quickly became at ease with the teacher’s warmth and found the practice both invigorating and relaxing;  by the final resting pose, she was hooked.  Over the next few years, what began as a quest for better health became a total transformation of body mind, and spirit, and a desire to share the bounty of yoga with others.

Luana completed her teacher training at White Lotus Foundation in 2010 and is registered as a Certified Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. She is also certified in prenatal yoga and continues her studies with Santa Barbara Yoga Center towards the advanced (RYT-500) certification. Her upbeat personality, calming presence, and kindness will encourage you to listen to the subtle messages of your body to safely work the edges of your strength, flexibility, and energy while deepening your sense of peace and balance.  Her classes are suitable for practitioners of all levels, providing detailed instruction and modifications where needed.

Luana has been inspired by her teachers, Lori and Tommy Anderson, Ganga White, Tracey Rich, and Siddhi Ellinghoven and further enlightened through the wisdom of Patanjalii’s Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and the writings of B.K.S. Iyengar, Erich Schiffman, Donna Farhi, Judith Hansen Lasater, Pema Chodron, and Rolf Gates.

Luana also teaches Yoga al Fresco in a private outdoor setting during the summer months, and is available for private sessions. In addition to teaching yoga, Luana serves the Orcutt community as a teacher at Orcutt Junior High School.
