I began martial arts at a young age, its hard to remember a time when i wasnt training. But i do remember the era where i realized to true purpose of martial arts and Taijichuan was a big part of that realization. We are all attacked by many opponents in life... physical self defense is one thing, but we are all defending against stress, disease, negative people-situations-energy. I began Taijichuan when i was 13 years old, and i have moved through several systems before i have settled on the group that i practice daily now. Taijichuan is just one of my many practices but its a practice that get a lot of joy out of sharing because it is a direct hookup to the heavenly and earthly energies that we all need to kep ourselves focused, healthy and effective. I Currently have 3 main Taiji teachers, each one has a different outlook and focus in their training, for me, i try to find the simplicity in health practice of the taiji form and meditation. Its a bit like unraveling christmas lights, just when you think you have it figured out, you find a new tangle to work through...but that is the journey, and its a journey that i look forward to sharing with every one.
Ancient texts say that the purpose of Taijichuan is to prolong the life beyond the normal span, so through the practice one finds an enternal spring. The fountain of youth is found within ourselves, our lives, our emotions or lack thereof. The simple truth of Taijichuan is that YOU are the secret. I discovered this at the age of 16 and have not yet scratched the surface of my teacher's wisdom. I only hope to learn more about myself as i share this path with the students that cross my path.
