Sandra Taylor 200 RYT
I sought out Yoga as a way to get back in shape in 2008. After retiring from working for PG&E for many years, much of my life was out of whack. I was immediately hooked with the mind-body-spirit experience of yoga and knew this was what I wanted to do. While working on my certificate of Addiction Studies at Allan Hancock Community College and singing with the choir there, I kept up my yoga practice, wondering how all these things would one day come together.
This last year I completed my 200 hour Teacher Training at Yoga Village and am registered with the Yoga Alliance. I am grateful for all the wonderful teachers and the community that I have found at Yoga Village. I am continuing my studies and hope to participate in the 500 hour training soon. I recently was able to participate in a workshop with Nicolai Bachman at the Sukha Wellness Center and found learning more about the Sutras to help deepen my practice.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to bring yoga and meditation to the women in county jail. After completing my yoga training I have joined with Sister Theresa Harpin and Restorative Partners in SLO to minister to the women and juveniles in the correctional system. I have also begun my own journey of bringing yoga and meditation to women who are living in the local recovery homes. I believe that the healing power of yoga and meditation is a wonderful tool for these women to get back to the joyous business of living full, productive lives. I know that it worked for me. Giving back is one of the biggest joys of my life. So, to be able to share classes with those coming to Yoga Village and teach them some of the positive and enriching things that yoga has given me are a real thrill!
